100 Day Song Challenge (Day 066-070)

A continuation of my 100 Day Song Challenge.

Day 066  A Disney song.  Higitus Figitus from The Sword in the Stone.

Day 067  This is the first line from a song I like.  What song?  (Post lyric only.)  “I heard there was a secret chord that David played, and it pleased the Lord, but you don’t really care for music, do you?”  Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen.

Day 068  A Queen song.  Fat-Bottomed Girls.  \m/

Day 069  A song with a sexy video.  I have no idea.  I don’t watch music videos very often.  I looked up a list of ‘the sexiest music videos of all time’, and rather than sit there and watch a ton of videos, I just picked a song from that list that I liked.

Mental Pictures that Make Me Giggle

Just a couple of random thoughts:

  1.  I had an MRI yesterday.  I’m an old pro at these, but never before have I noticed an MRI tech’s badge being pulled toward the magnetic machine.  It was a bit amusing.  He was standing there fiddling with the screen, and his badge was being pulled away from his body and toward the machine.  MRI protocol differs depending on the facility.  This particular venue wanted me to leave my shoes on despite the metal eyelets.  Seeing the tech’s badge made me have mental visions of my feet being pulled up over my head toward the machine while I was being slid into the machine until I was rolled up like a shrimp.  Giggle.  I wish I could draw more skillfully.  I would love to sketch that out…..
  2. I have a friend who is being ordained as a minister a week from tomorrow.  Thinking of this earlier made me realize that this will now mean that I will have more friends in ministry than in prison for the first time in my life.  What does that say?  Ha!

That’s all, folks!  Have a fabulous evening.

Get down, get down.

I highly recommend dancing around your house with total abandon using totally awkward Elaine Benes-like dance moves.  It’s very therapeutic.  (And could count as cardio, depending on how down you get…..)

That is all.

Happy Resurrection Day!

via Daily Prompt: Cranky

“It is true!  The Lord has risen…”  Luke 24:34b

No justifiable reasons to be cranky today.  Today is the day we celebrate our Savior rising from the grave after being brutally murdered.  He suffered terribly because we are sinners.  I sin repeatedly.  Daily, I add to the myriad of sins that He, an innocent man, was whipped and beaten and stabbed and mocked and spat at and crucified for.  It does not matter what you or I or anyone have going on in our lives right now that is causing us stress or discomfort.  Nothing compares to what He went through and why.  Nothing takes away from the fact that we should honor this sacrifice today and every day.  Thank you, Lord, for loving me enough to give me this gift that I do not deserve.  Thank you for the chance at eternity with you.  Thank you.

Happy Easter, everyone.

Song of the Day

Great I Am performed by Phillips, Craig, and Dean.

Good afternoon, Interweb!  Since I have been listening to Pandora today as I work, I decided to participate in The Playlist Shuffle Tag, which I came across here.  The rules are that you put your music on shuffle, and list the first 15 songs that play.  No cheating.  No skipping.  Nada.  If you participate, please tag me so I can see what you’re listening to!

I wanted to do another music tag post, and I came across this one.  So, here goes.  If you write about this topic, please tag me so I can see your answers.

The Questions are…

1. Which band/artist do you own the most albums by? Easily Eminem.
2. What was the last song you listened to? Woman, Woman by AWOLNATION.
3. What’s in your CD player right now? All six slots in my car are filled with “mixed tapes”.
4. What was the last show you attended? Elton John with my seestur.
5. What was the greatest show you’ve been to? Either 2Cellos or TransSiberian Orchestra.  \m/
6. What was the worst show you’ve ever been to? Probably Aaron Tippin, because he sings country, and I am not a fan of country music.
7. What is the most musically involved you have ever been? I was in band for three years.  Played the clarinet.  I wish I had pursued music further, but I didn’t.
8. What show are you looking forward to?  2Cellos in ATX, baby!
9. What is your favorite band shirt?  My favorite was my Weezer shirt that I had in high school.  I loved that friggin’ shirt.  And Levi Lawhon stole it from me.  Bastard.
10. What musician would you like to hang out with for a day?  There are many.  If I had to pick just one (and this is for today–likely to change tomorrow), I’d say Marcus Mumford.  I have a bit of a crush on him.
11. Who is one musician or group you wish would make a comeback?  Pink Floyd.  Even though, in the words of my Uncle Benny, “them dudes are old”.
12. Who is one band/ artist you’ve never seen live but always wanted to?  I have a massive dream concert list.  Mumford and Sons.  Florence + the Machine.  NEEDTOBREATHE.  Twenty One Pilots.  Aerosmith.  And on and on and on.
13. Name four or more flawless albums.  The Wall by Pink Floyd.  Licensed to Ill by Beastie Boys.  Sigh No More by Mumford and Sons.  Metallica’s Black album.

15. Who have you seen the most live?  In November, it will be 2Cellos.
16. What is your favorite movie soundtrack?  O Brother, Where Art Thou?
17. What was your last musical ‘phase’ before you wisened up?  My musical taste has always been awesome.  😉
18. What is your ‘guilty pleasure’ that you hate to admit liking?  I don’t really have a ‘guilty pleasure’.  I guess if I have to provide an answer, I don’t want to like HandClap by Fitz and the Tantrums.  But I do.  Dammit.  (It makes me shake my butt.)

Memories Music Tag

I enjoyed the book tag post that I did the other day so much that I decided to do a music tag post.  Let me also throw in there that this is the first time I have posted two blog entries in one day.  I fee like I should earn a badge or a patch of some sort.  Perhaps the kinda-sorta-getting-into-this-blog-thing patch to sew on my vest.  I hope you’ll participate in this post.  If you do, tag me so that I can enjoy your answers!

A song that reminds you of your childhood.  El Shaddai by Amy Grant.  I can remember this playing in our house when I was little.

A song that reminds you of your mom.  They’re Coming to Take Me Away by Napoleon XIV.  I know this seems weird, but….okay.  Yes it’s weird.  Ha!  She used to sing this to me, and I love it!

A song that reminds you of your dad.  Keep Your Hands to Yourself by Georgia Satellites.  I remember him rockin’ out to this in his truck.  And, who can blame him?  It’s a great song!

A song that reminds you of your sibling(s).  Insane in the Brain by Cypress Hill.  My seestur and I have had some great moments to this song.  🙂

A song that reminds you of your job.  I Get It by Chevelle.  It’s a kind of angry song, and my job makes me kind of angry.  So, yeah……

A song that reminds you of high school.  Plateau by Nirvana.  My first boyfriend bought me the Nirvana Unplugged album when I was in high school.  And, my friend, Marie, and I used to blast this track all the time.  And, I made a drawing from this song for art class…

A song that reminds you of your significant other.  Iris by Goo Goo Dolls.  Many songs make me think of The Hubs, but this was our first “our song”.

A song that reminds you of a road trip.  Asleep at the Wheel by The Bloodhound Gang.  Self explanatory.

A song that reminds you of someone in your life that has passed away.  Mercedes Benz by Janis Joplin.  My friend, Rolo, loved this song, and it was the first song that I sang in front of other people without shame.  It will always make me think of him.

A song that reminds you of a roommate.  Nookie by Limp Bizkit.  We had a roommate for three years, and during that time, we listened to a lot of Limp Bizkit.

The oldest song on your playlist.  I’m really not sure, so I’m picking Where Did You Sleep Last Night, which was originally recorded by Leadbelly.  I prefer Nirvana’s version, but still awesome.
